I've been mucking around with my scraps lately, and decided to make some quilts using pairs of 1 1/2"strips.

bulletDouble Log Cabin - This is the first lot of blocks, and of course I sewed together way too many strips.  I had to do something with the leftovers. Click on the picture to see the finished quilt.

bulletWoven Strips - I grabbed a piece of homespun and sewed a 1 1/2"strip down either side of my double strips.  Then I crosscut them into 4 1/2"squares and joined them to make these blocks. Click on the picture to see the finished quilt.

bulletBasket Weave - These are 2 1/2" slices from my original double strips, light and dark alternated.  Tiny blocks, but straightforward sewing.

bullet16Patch Cobblestone - I joined the light strips into sets of four, crosscut them into 1 1/2"strips and made little 16-patches that measured 4 1/2".  Then I framed half with a border of 2"green strips, and half with yellow strips. Click on the picture to see the finished quilt, and a close-up of the blocks.

bulletReel set 16-patches - Had some blocks leftover, so I framed them with a cotton reel setting.  Very soft and delicate.

bulletPinwheel - Haven't done more than a few of these, but they go together so easily.

bulletSimple Weave  - This used up a lot of the dark strips

bulletDouble Weave  - This involves using partial seams, but it's quick and easy.  Click on the picture to see the finished quilt and a close-up of the block.

bulletScrap Star- I like the idea of using the strips and 16-patches as the background for a patchwork design, so I quickly made this block.  I'm nearly out of strips, but this can be a long term project I think.
