This is my current project. Not sure about the name, but that's what Barbara Brackman's BlockBase says it is.

I'm just choosing a light and a dark fabric and making 1 or 2 blocks; when I have enough made I'll decide what to do with them.
The blocks are 7 1/2" finished. To make each block you will need to cut
|
2 strips 2" x 8.5", one light and one dark
|
2 strips 2" x 15", 1 light and one dark
|
1 square 2" x 2" of dark fabric. |

Cross-cut both the 15"strips into four 3.5" rectangles.
Sew the 8.5"strips together, then cross-cut into 2"slices.

Sew a dark rectangle to each slice. Sew the dark square to two light rectangles.

Press the seams to the dark fabric.
Join the corner units with the remaining light rectangles.

Press the seams to the dark material.

Sew the three rows together to make the block.

Press the last two seams to the dark fabric.
