My Photo GalleryA Little Bit About Us....I was born in South Australia, and eventually landed here in Rockhampton because I married a Queenslander. We met in Darwin, but it's a well known fact that all Queenslanders have to go home to 'God's Own Country' sooner or later. I have a twin sister, Meredith England, who also designs quilting patterns and wonderful traditional applique quilts. She lives in South Australia, about 20 miles from where we were born. This is us on our Christening Day, in the arms of big brother Doug. I think he's a brave 13 year old to be photographed holding two babies. (I know, 13 years difference; what were our parents thinking!! For a start, that they were going to get one girl.) Meredith wants me to point out that I was a bully even at that age; note my grip on her ear.
This is us at age 2, on holiday at Glenelg, near Adelaide, 1960 I'm on the right, Meredith is on the left Within a year our mother had started teaching us how to sew.... I have plans to turn this photo into a Ruth MacDowell-type quilt...
This is us, at my wedding in Brisbane in 1985. I was married in my in-laws' garden, which was once a graveyard. There are tombstones behind us in the flowerbeds...
And this is the most recent photo of us together, in 1998, at Brisbane International Airport just before we jetted off to America. I was the guest speaker at the Machine Quilters Showcase in Springfield, Missouri. We had a great time, and visited the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder in Mansfield, Missouri, something we'd always dreamed of doing. Laura was a quilter too... My mission is to have someone take a photo of us together next time I go to visit, next month in fact. I'm on the left, Meredith on the right. My mother always says that there is a good twin and a bad twin; I'm the Bad One.
